The Ace Awards is an annual event hosted by the Reno-Tahoe American Marketing Association (AMA). Now celebrating our 29th year, our goal of the Ace Awards is to recognize and acknowledge marketing excellence within our community.


Our Selection Process

We ask the Reno/Tahoe community to help crowd source great examples of local marketing across 12 categories! The success of this event is 100% reliant on community involvement and support. Help us make this our best year yet! We don’t charge a fee to submit or nominate projects/campaigns. We made this decision 5 years ago to encourage all local companies/business to participate without having to dive deep into their marketing budget. 

After reaching out to all of the nominees and collecting additional detail about each of the nominated marketing initiatives, the Reno-Tahoe AMA board will vote to narrow down the total number of finalists to 36 entries across 12 categories.

The judging committee for this year’s event will not only be the Reno AMA Board members, but also our sister AMA chapter in Charleston, South Carolina. The judging process offers AMA members the unique opportunity to learn more about some of the area’s best examples of marketing, what made them effective, and why.


Our Philosophy

Our goal is to recognize excellence in marketing in our local market, no matter the size of the project or company. To achieve this, we do not believe in charging for submissions or nominations. We want everyone to have a fair shot at recognition, regardless of the size of their marketing budget!

A past AMA president, Somer Athari, said it best:

The reason why we made this decision is because we wanted to give all companies/agencies/small businesses the opportunity to submit their marketing successes without having to use their marketing budgets to submit their work. We noticed over the years that we were seeing the same agencies with the most marketing dollars to put towards submitting for awards were of course winning all the awards.

It didn’t seem right to us. So we changed the awards submission process completely. We know this isn’t the norm, which can cause confusion, but ultimately this was the best approach to give everyone an opportunity and not only a select few.

With an all-inclusive goal in mind, we decided to break the rules and not charge for submitting your work. We have found this to be wildly successful, and has given us the opportunity to recognize anyone deserving for excellence in marketing in the Reno-Tahoe area.
