Tell us about your background in marketing.

I graduated from UNR in 2005 from the Reynold’s School of Journalism. My first job out of college was at the Reno-Gazette Journal where I was an account manager in the Custom Publishing Group. I left the RGJ in 2009 and dabbled in a few graduate programs before applying to the MBA program at UNR in 2010. Shortly after, I was hired on at Apex as a Communications Project Manager with one of our business partners. I graduated with online casino my MBA this last spring and knew I wanted to get back into the field of marketing. I approached my organization and sold them on the idea of hiring a Marketing Manager, and once they agreed on that I sold them on the idea of hiring me, so here I am.

What led you to Reno/Tahoe?

I was born in South Lake Tahoe and grew up in Minden – about 40 minutes south of Reno. I came up to Reno to attend college and just haven’t left. There is so much to the Reno-Tahoe area that outsiders don’t see at first glance, but we have a close-knit community with so many activities, and it’s exciting to see the revitalization efforts in our city.

I love the level of engagement that I’ve experienced since joining. Everyone is full of energy and passion about what they do, and it makes it exciting to be a part of such a positive group of individuals. The luncheons provide great networking opportunities and the speakers are engaging and provide relevant information to the field of marketing, and more specifically, marketing in Reno.
