Doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity.  But change is hard and uncomfortable, so what’s a marketer to do?

The RSCVA has seen a decade of declining visitation, now worsened by the mother of all recessions. Michael Thomas, executive director of marketing, will tell about the process to revitalize the region’s brand, rally the tourism community and catalyze the area’s marketing with a new campaign. Michael will share stories from the trenches about:

  • Marketing’s role in reinventing or revitalizing a business
  • How to overcome resistance to change
  • How a brand is earned, not made
  • How to find the answer to kick start YOUR brand

Our Speaker: As executive director of marketing for the RSCVA, Michael oversees MichaelThomasPhoto2communications, advertising, special events and Internet marketing.  He previously focused on economic development, business development, sales and marketing with EDAWN, Twelve Horses and TechAlliance.  Prior to those roles, Mr. Thomas was a broadcast journalist, last working as an anchor reporter for KTVN Channel 2. He has received recognition from the AMA and PRSA and was named one of the inaugural 20 under 40 award winners by the Reno Gazette-Journal and Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network.
