National Automobile Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, has an opening for a full time Sales & Events Manager.

Primary function is to sell and manage the use of the Museum as a venue by outside organizations, businesses and individuals for catered events (foremost), meetings and other functions. Effectively solicits and sells use of the Museum to prospective clients who contact the Museum and by making personal visits to meeting, event, convention and wedding planners, local casinos and hotels, area businesses and organizations, and other sources.

Develops and implements effective sales solicitation and marketing plans to generate and increase sales. Processes all sales and coordinates all event requirements, including set-up and tear down. Works cooperatively with the Museum’s exclusive caterer to meet client and Museum needs. Trains, supervises and schedules event team (small). In the absence of the event supervisor, serves as an on-site event manager.

Manages Museum-sponsored events open to the public or invited guests. Helps develop event content; solicits sponsors, vendors, and in-kind services; schedules entertainment, vendors and staff; supervises operation of the event as needed. Books group tours. Helps manage the Museum’s participation in community events and activities, and represents the Museums as needed.

Required skills: Proven, effective sales experience and results. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal (clear, concise), written, email and phone communication skills. Skilled in Word. Excel and Outlook. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute to a positive team environment. Ability to train, supervise and interact positively with staff and volunteers. Knowledge of management practices and business operations. Professional manner under pressure. Discreet handling of business and ability to maintain confidentiality. Self-motivated. Goal orientated.

Education/experience: Graduation from accredited college or university and two years of experience conducting, selling and/or coordinating events; or high school diploma with four years related work experience for the job description.
