Alex Khaliq – VP of Data/Secretary

With a background in recruitment and management, and a deep-seated passion for marketing, Alex is a valuable member of the Reno-Tahoe AMA Board. Alex takes care of our ongoing CRM project and manages the member data locally and nationally. We asked Alex a few questions, check out his answers!

Why did you become involved in the AMA?
I got involved in the AMA to grow my marketing skills and network with local professionals in the Reno marketing community. Anita Bowers and Brittany Silva inspired me to take on a VP role to help the chapter and get more exposure to all things AMA and Marketing.
What about marketing most interests you?
Marketing is interesting to me because it’s made up of so many things and touches so many different industries, it’s incredible! I’m very data-driven, so the digital side of marketing and SEO is where I find myself drawn to.
Tell us about yourself and what you do.
I currently work as an Account Manager for a TEKsystems, an IT Staffing and Services Company. I help people find jobs, and I work directly with local businesses to help them find qualified IT professionals. When I’m not working, you can find me drinking microbrews, studying fantasy football statistics, bingeing Netflix shows, and trying to plan my next trip/vacation.
What’s one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?
I played in band most of my childhood, which taught me the ability to breathe in and out at the same time.
What is your favorite thing about Reno/Tahoe?
My favorite thing has to be the cool renovation we’ve seen in the last few years, and the positive things coming our way in the future. I love the seasons we get and the space we have to explore. Reno is home for me.
How has the AMA helped your career growth/personal growth?
Since joining the AMA, I’ve learned more about the local marketing industry and what local companies are doing to keep driving their business. The AMA has given me a solid network that grows everyday, and a place to connect with like-minded professionals and mentors.
What do you like most about the monthly luncheons?
The monthly luncheons give me a chance to get out of the office and learn new things. I’ve taken so many things away from previous speakers that I can use and implement on a daily basis.
What type of marketing inspires or interests you the most?
Right now, I’m most interested in the digital side of marketing – data, numbers, mobile, and anything internet related really grabs my curiosity.
So next time you see Alex, feel free to reach out and say hi! Him and the rest of the board would love to hear from you!
